First Cat Rescue In the Woods
When we moved two hours away from the city we did not think we would be involved in any cat rescue, but boy were we wrong. Our first year living in the woods we started getting a frequent visitor. We ended up calling the friendly cat “Bob” and though he surely belonged to someone. Bob would come by often, hang in front of the garage, even jump on the motorcycle once, roll around, and then just as quickly, leave.

As the months went by, Bob started to look chunkier around the belly. While someone thought he was just getting fat, I knew that Bob was most likely a Barbara. Before I knew it, Bob, now called Bobby, was in our garage. I didn’t want her to have her kittens in the snow and decided to trap her. We tried to put her in a cat carrier but at this point she was too big for it. While she fussed we grabbed a box and put her in the box. She made some noise but quickly settled down. I called the local SPCA and asked them if they could take her in. The said they were packed and couldn’t do it. That didn’t stop us.
Cat Rescue Kittens
We drove to the SPCA and showed them that this cat was due any day. I’m sure they thought she was ours and we were giving her up but that was not the case. They hesitated but took Bobby in the box and we followed. We gave a donation for her care and came back a few days later with cat food and blankets. This is when we learned that Bobby had her litter!

Bobby ended up giving birth to eight kittens! One kitten did not make it and two were already adopted. I was very confused that two kittens were given up for adoption when they were not old enough to be fixed. Who even knew if the people would come back or take them to fix them! One thing was apparent, Bobby was given a new job and a little freedom. She was at the front desk, greeting visitors and she let us give her some love. We visited the kittens and saw a pile of adorable little mixture of kitten heads.

We returned to the SPCA a few more times after to check up and see if the kittens were adopted and if Bobby was still there. She was still there but the kittens were adopted. Hopefully, she received her happily-ever-after too.
