Paw Syndicate History and Introduction

paw syndicate history

The Paw Syndicate history is not a long one but has it’s own twists and turns. While this is no Interview with a Vampire, it will have you on the edge of your seats! Okay, that may be a tiny exaggeration. So, let’s break down the history of the crew and help you identify them, one by one.

Mama Cat from Paw Syndicate

Mama cat is the original Paw Syndicate crew member. You can say that without her there would be no Paw Syndicate. Mama cat was probably born in March-April of 2016 and came with her mom, and two brothers. The fluffy brother and her mother did not stick around. They shortly stopped coming by and Mama and her ginger brother (named Brother, obviously) stuck around. We made them a shelter under the deck, and another shelter on top of the deck. Over the years the shelter has changed, improved, and expanded. Next thing we know, Mama went from being a kitten, to a Mama. She had a single kitten, but would raise her somewhere else. We didn’t even know she had a kitten or where she was keeping her. A year later, she had four kittens; Robin, Flipper, Tiny, and Meany. Shortly after, they were all trapped and fixed, thanks two ladies from Happy Kitty Inc and TARA.

Brother Cat the Original Cat Crew Member

While Brother is no longer around, it is important to mention him. He is Mama’s brother and presumably the father of her four kittens. While that might seem wrong, it’s what happens in nature and cats that are not fixed. Brother was a gorgeous ginger cat, and Robin is his mini. Like father, like son, because Robin is the exact copy of his dad. One day Brother, Meany, and Tiny did not show up for their meals. They simply vanished and left the colony. I still have hope that they are somewhere close by, in a different colony, living a feral life.

Robin Paw Syndicate Leader

Robin is a sweet ginger cat. He is Mama’s son and Flipper’s brother and we assume that Robin is Baby’s uncle. Robin and Batman are the only males of the group and are the protectors of the Paw Syndicate. Okay, so we can exclude Batman from this, but Robin has really stepped up over the years. Robin will be turning eight years old this year, along with Flipper and Baby. He loved to chase his tail and play with acorns, so be sure to check the backyard cameras for those funny moments.

Flipper from the Paw Syndicate

The sweetest and quietest cat you’ll ever meet is Flipper. This sweet girl got her name because she loves to flip. While her whole family would be on top of the cat house, she would be flipping. She would find a way to squeeze herself in between the cat house and the glass door and flip around, usually multiple times. You might see her go crazy for a toy and flip around it or on top of it. If it’s gray and flipping, it has to be Flipper. While she might look innocent, Flipper is a great hunter. She has brought around plenty of mice, moles, and voles, and even a garden snake.

Meany, the Original Crew Member

Mama cat had three girls, Meany, Flipper, and Tiny. I like to believe that that is the order they might have came out into this world. Meany seemed like the eldest of the three girls and always had a grumpy face on, or at least when she saw me. She knew when I was going to try and pet her and her eyes would jump up and tell me; “I dare you!” She was as spicy as her mama when it come to trusting me. I miss her fiercely, her expressions, and her gorgeous judging eyes.

Tiny, the Smallest of them All

When you see Tiny, you’ll know why I named her that. Her adorable head is something that stood out to me. She, like Meany, did not trust me. She would either go to the other side next to Meany, or she would make tiny little growls. I always assumed that Tiny was the runt of the litter and that’s why she was smaller. While Meany, Flipper and Tiny are all sisters, they were all different. Their gray coat color was the only thing that said, “we’re related.” A few months after being spayed with her siblings and parents, Tiny disappeared along with Meany and Brother. Since they all disappeared at the same time I assume they are all together.

Baby Cat History with Paw Syndicate

One day as I watched Mama feeding her cats, a kitten showed up and stared in awe. Slowly, she inched closer to the pack of kittens and squeezed her way through. I watched in agony, not sure what Mama would do, but all she did was pop her head and stare. After a few seconds her head went down and she let the new kitten feed with her kids. This was the first time I saw Baby and I was so trilled when she was accepted. I don’t know what happened to her mom, whether she left or was abandoned, but I was glad she found us. Baby is a gorgeous tabby with one ginger front paw. She has golden tones in her fur, which tells me that she has ginger in her family. Baby has the more precious meow that always melts my heart. If you’re bad at hearing you might even miss it. I love Baby so much and call her Baby because she is the baby of the family. Dahh!

One Eyed Willy from the Original Crew

In October of 2018, as I was talking with Happy Kitty Inc and how to start trapping the cats, a new cat showed up. This cat looked older, skinny, and had a missing eye. It must have known who’s house to go to for food and getting neutered. We named him One Eyed Willy from the Goonies. Shortly after, when Baby and Flipper were returned from their spay, Kristen was able to grab Willy and put him in a carrier. He ended up being a friendly cat and received a lot of TLC. A few weeks later he was adopted! We hope that he is still out there living his best life with his purrents.

Batman, the late arrival

Just when I thought that I only had two more cats to trap, a new one shows up. At first, I thought our Koko (black cat) escaped outside and I panicked. I opened the door too fast and the cat ran off. After a minute, he slowly inched over but then zoomed away. A day later he was back, still skittish. When I opened the sliding door to feed him he would run away. I closed the door and waited. All the cats would pop out, one by one, and then here comes this black, hunky chunky ball of fur. Everyone jumped in different directions, not knowing who this was. Batman just stood there like he was saying; “I’m friendly and I’m afraid of the dark.” He quickly had his body going towards baby and she whacked him in the face and ran off. Long story short, this Romeo gets to live with his Juliet, and her family, happily ever after.

So, this is a short Paw Syndicate history. Out of the nine cats that we trapped, only one was friendly enough for adoption. Willy. The rest came back home, where they all told their stories of waking up in a strange place and hearing barking dogs. Three of them wondered what happened to the size of their nuts.
