Buddy and Frankie vs. The Undercover Mouse: How We Keep Our Rescue Cats Active and Happy

When it comes to toys, some are better than others and the Undercover Mouse toy is a hit with most cats! We first purchased one of these toys for our cats, Kiki and Koko. They were three years at the time and were already bored with any toy we brought home. They loved to chase each other, watch the birds outside and sleep in boxes. When it came to toys, they each had their favorite, Koko loved string toys that she could chew on and Kiki loved her purple mouse. It was the only toy she would play fetch with. Sadly, we lost that purple mouse and replaced it with another, but it doesn’t get the same love. Moving on, one day we came home with the Undercover Mouse toy. It was a simple design, a little machine with a stick, covered by cloth. Well, they both loved it! They would chase that tail until they would run out of breath. That was my cue to remove the toy and let them enjoy their night.

New Favorite Toy: Buddy and Frankie Can’t Stop Playing with the Undercover Mouse

When Frankie first came inside, he only played with one toy: the catnip Banana. He loved it so much that within the first hour he punctured it and we had to replace it. He did the same with the second banana toy. Once he was neutered his aggression and need to destroy the catnip banana was over. The third Banana is still safe and sound in the house. It took a while for Frankie to love to play but eventually he was jumping for stringed toys. He still jumps for them and we will make sure to show a video of that soon.

When a string toy lost its top and sting, I used the stick to play undercover mouse. They loved it! I would put a blanket or shirt on the floor and move the stick under it, while they tried to catch it. Then one day, PawDad threw away their favorite cat toy for safety reasons. So, I ordered the undercover mouse toy from Amazon and here we are. The first minute of using the toy the boys were in LOVE! They first moved away from it but quickly realized it was the perfect toy for their morning activity.

Why do Cat Parents Love the Undercover Mouse Toy?

As a cat parent, you feel guilty for not being able to play with your cats 24/7. They need at least 15 minutes, twice a day, of interactive fun play. This will help stimulate their brains, move their bodies, and allows them to use their hunting skills. I bring in the undercover mouse toy for the boys when I need some time to work. This keeps them busy and it allows me to use my laptop without a cat trying to sit on top of it.

This mouse toy is perfect because it has a few different settings. It can be faster or slower and it can stop playing if your cat doesn’t touch the toy. This saves the battery. So far, I have only charged the toy once since I got it a week ago. I do let the cats play with it for a few minutes then I shut it off and remove it from the room. This way they can miss the toy and not get bored with it. It also prevents the cats from getting overstimulated.

Another reason that I love the toy is that it has a string and a feather. It appeals to both cats with the string (mouse tail) and the feather (bird). So whether your cat loves string or feathers, this might quickly become their favorite cat toy. You also get a replacement string/feather with the purchase, in case your cats like to destroy their pray.

Overall, I am very happy with this cat toy. It keeps Buddy and Frankie active and happy for many minutes and helps deplete their crazy cat energy a bit. I am not too crazy about the squeaky mouse noise this toy makes, but it isn’t constant.

If your cat loves to play undercover mouse with a stick but you don’t have the energy or time to always do it, get this toy or something similar. If your cat doesn’t love it, well blame it on Buddy and Frankie.

What is your cat’s favorite toy?
